SDGs Monitor (Jan - Mar, 2018)

posted in SDGs Monitor by ORADI

SINCE the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were adopted by world leaders at the 70th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on September 25, 2015, both the national and sub-national governments in Nigeria have been collaborating for effective implementation of the global goals.
In this edition of the SDGs Monitor, we beam our light on the state governments in the country with well investigated reports on the implementation of the SDGs in selected states. Bearing in mind that there are six geo-political zones in Nigeria, our reports focus on two states drawn from each. This brings the number of states covered in this edition to 12.Our reports cover the following states:

Zone State
South East: Anambra and Ebonyi
South South: Rivers and Delta
South West: Lagos and Oyo
North Central: Benue and Kogi
North East: Adamawa and Bauchi
North West: Kaduna and Kano

Our reports shed light on the progress made by each state in rolling-out programmes in the seven selected SDGs we are closely monitoring: Poverty alleviation, Quality Education, Gender Equality, Decent work and Economic growth, Reducing inequality, Climate Action, Peace, Justice and Strong institutions.
In this edition, we also serve you an exclusive interview with Senator Udoma Udo Udoma, Minister of Budget and National Planning in which he X-rays how the sub-national governments in Nigeria are working with the Federal Government to achieve the SDGs targets by 2030. In addition, we bring you the brilliant speech of the Senate Leader, Distinguished Senator Ahmad Lawan when he graciously presented the SDGs Monitor to the nation on Thursday, 24th August, 2017 at the Yar'Adua Centre in Abuja.
It is a bumper package. Happy reading.
